Welcome to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Retirees' Association's website. It is designed to serve as a communications link by providing information and services to Association members, current Ohio State Highway Patrol employees, other law enforcement personnel and the public at large.

The "Public", or open access area of the site, includes information about the Association, History of the Patrol, links to other sites related to the Retirees' Association and Upcoming Social Activities.

The "Members Only" area of the website is accessible by Association members through the use of a password. This area includes information on the illness of members, the death of a member or immediate family, meeting notes and other important announcements.

We are proud of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, our Association, and retirees of the Patrol. We consider them to be the best group of people anywhere to associate with!

Many of those in our patrol family, or their family members, are suffering through the hardships of cancer treatments or other life threatening illnesses. A complete prayer list of our friends in distress can be found on the Member's Page.

8/11- Retired Marion Post Auxiliary Trooper Lois Lust reported that her August 4th surgery went well. The surgeons were able to remove the mass and save 98% of her kidney and the margins are clear. She is recovering at home. Well wishes can be emailed to Lois at loie@me.com.

6/17 - Correction - Retired Sergeant Sidney "Sid" Stark is being treated for Stage 4 prostate cancer. Sid is a graduate of the 59th Academy Class. He retired in 1990.

6/7 - Cheryl Booker, wife of retired Major Robert Booker, is being treated for a respitory illness (sarcoidosus) making it difficult for her to breath.

5/20 - Retired Captain Ron Hoeft continues his couragous battle with cancer, seen here with on of his smiling granchildren. Ron is a graduate of the 98th Academy Class, retiring in July of 1998.

Information to send cards of encouragement can be found on the Member's page. Prayers are always encouraged and appreciated. If there are others in our patrol family that are in some type of distress or difficulty please let us know so we can add them to our prayer list.

Miriam Church Update by Lindsey Heston (August 10th)

Miriam has officially and successfully completed 3 rounds of chemotherapy! While we are so incredibly proud of how strong she has been throughout this journey, the third round brought some unexpected complications.

She developed retinal hemorrhages in both eyes, along with significant toxicity and pressure building throughout her head, neck, and brain. It has been a long and difficult process working to get the pressure under control and stabilize her enough to move forward with treatment.

With our condolences, we report the passing of retired Captain James W. Smith, age 93, a graduate of the 43rd Academy Class. Jim retired from service in November of 1984 after 30 years, last serving as the commander of the Massillon District. Following his OSP career, Jim worked an additional 10 years serving as chief of the Perry Township Police Department. He was preceeded in death by his wife of 71 years, Gloria (Park) Smith.

Constance A. Feightner, age 94, surviving spouse of Retired Staff Lieutenant Richard C. Feightner, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026. Richard graduated from the 44th academy class on November 4, 1955, and passed away on December 16, 2020.

Nancy D. Johnson, age 81, surviving spouse of Retired Sergeant James A. Johnson, passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2026. James graduated from the 73rd academy class on December 30, 1966, and passed away on March 7, 2015.

We recently learned of the passing of former Patrolman William C. Cattran, age 89 of St. Clairsville, formerly of Lancaster, on February 27, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. Bill was a graduate of the 49th Academy Class, January 24th, 1958. He started his career with the Ohio State Highway Patrol and later ventured into the insurance industry.
